5200 - How to remove AVG Toolbar, homepage and Secure Search from your browser

To remove the AVG Secure Search, the AVG Toolbar and revert all associated changes in your homepage and other browser settings:

Windows Vista or 7

  1. Open menu Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Uninstall a program or Programs and Features.
  3. In the list of applications double-click AVG Security Toolbar or AVG SafeGuard Toolbar.  The uninstallation will be launched.
  4. Click Next to finish the uninstallation. Your browser window will be closed.

Windows XP

  1. Open menu Start, and then click Control Panel (or Settings, and then Control Panel).
  2. Click Add or remove programs.
  3. In the list of applications double-click AVG Security Toolbar or AVG SafeGuard Toolbar.  The uninstallation will be launched.
  4. Click Next to finish the uninstallation. Your browser window will be closed.

Windows 8

  1. Right-click in the lower-left corner of your screen, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Uninstall a program or Programs and Features.
  3. In the list of applications double-click AVG Security Toolbar or AVG SafeGuard Toolbar.  The uninstallation will be launched.
  4. Click Next to finish the uninstallation. Your browser window will be closed.

AVG Toolbar Remover

Alternatively, you can use AVG Toolbar Remover to uninstall AVG Toolbar and revert all changes:

  1. Download the AVG Toolbar Remover tool.
  2. Run the downloaded file AVG_toolbar_remover.exe.
  3. Click Accept to confirm the license agreement.
  4. Click Continue to start the removal process.
    Note: This will close all your browser windows.
  5. You may receive a prompt from Internet Explorer or other browsers about your preferred search engine.
  6. Click Exit to close the tool.
