4338 - How to disable AVG Secure Search from Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome

Internet Explorer 8 and 9
-
Click the Tools button (gear icon in the upper right) and select Internet options.

Under the General tab, click Use Blank (or enter a new home page).

Under the Programs tab, click the Manage add-ons button.

On the left, select Search Providers.

Click on another search engine and click the Set as default button.

Click on AVG Secure Search and click the Remove button.
Note: It may not be removed from the list until you restart Internet Explorer.

Open a new tab, click on Settings in the bottom right corner and uncheck the box.

click OK and restart Internet Explorer.
Google Chrome (most recent version)

Click the wrench icon (upper-right corner) and select Settings.

Under Search, select a new default search engine using the drop down menu.

Click the Manage search engines… button.
-
Select AVG Secure Search and click on the X on the right to delete it.

Under On Startup, click the Set pages link.
-
Delete the AVG Search page by clicking on the X on the right.
Note: you can also add a new search engine if you like.

Click OK and then restart Chrome.
Mozilla Firefox

In the search window in the upper right corner, click the search provider icon and select Manage Search Engines…

Select AVG Secure Search and select the Remove button and then click OK.

In the upper-left corner of the browser, click the orange Firefox button and choose Options > Options.

Under the General tab, delete the current "Home Page" link or enter a new one.

Click OK.

Open a new tab, click on Settings in the bottom right corner, uncheck the box
-
click OK and restart Firefox.
