If you want to install or uninstall AVG Free Edition components (e-mail plug-in for example), you have to run AVG Free Edition installation using a downloaded installation file from here.

Running the installation process recognises the existence of installed AVG Free Edition and the Add/Remove Components option is offered.

Reinstalling and using the Add/Remove option is necessary for example for the case that there is a new supported e-mail client (MS Outlook/The Bat!) installed on the PC after the installation of AVG Free Edition.

Open the directory with AVG Free Edition installed in and run the SETUP.EXE file or download the current installation file of AVG Free Edition from here and run it to start installation process. A window with following options will be displayed during the installation process: 

Add/Remove Components - choose if you want to add/remove some AVG Free Edition component or reinstall the entire AVG Free Edition program.

Repair installation - this option repairs or reinstalls missing or damaged components of AVG Free Edition.

Uninstall - this option removes the AVG Free Edition program from your PC

Minimal hardware configuration which can be used for AVG Free Edition installation is a PC with 486, 133 MHz, 32 MB RAM memory and 30 MB free space on the hard drive.

The latest installation file is always available on our web site. When installing or re-installing AVG Free Edition, we recommend that you check this link for the latest file. By using the most current installation package, you will know that your installation includes recent program changes. In addition, the latest AVG Free Edition installation file will include fixes to known issues that may have existed with earlier installation files. Following the installation, be sure to update your AVG Free Edition to receive the latest virus database updates.

It is possible that AVG Free Edition installation will fail if Norton Internet Security software is installed on the same computer. Generally (for all antivirus vendors), the use of more than one antivirus product under the same operating system is NOT recommended because of possible conflicts in their main components. In this case the possible solutions are:

• uninstall Norton Internet Security completely
• reboot your computer
• install AVG Free Edition
• install Norton Internet Security (if you like to use it as well)
  
  or
• install AVG Free Edition without the "Plugin for Microsoft Office 2000/XP" (choose the "Custom Installation" option when you start AVG Free Edition installation and tick-on all available components except the one mentioned above)

Our developers are trying to solve the problem now and the solution should be available in a future AVG Free Edition program update.

• download the AVG Free Edition 7.5 setup program, save this file on your hard disk and launch it
• Click "Next >" on the AVG "Welcome!" screen
• Click "Accept" on the "License Agreement on Use of an AVG Free Edition" screen
• Select "Repair installation" on the "Select Setup Type" screen and click "Next >"
• Select "Restart the computer now" (pre-selected by the program automatically) and click "OK" on the "Installation Complete!" screen to restart your computer and complete the installation

Before the installation of a Professional Edition it is necessary to uninstall AVG Free Edition. Please proceed as follows to rectify this issue:

• download the latest AVG installation package and save it on your hard drive. We recommend saving the file to the Desktop. The appropriate latest AVG installation file of the edition that you have ordered can be downloaded here:
  AVG Anti-Virus
  AVG Internet Security
  AVG Anti-Malware
  AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall
  AVG Anti-Spyware
• execute (double-click) this package
• choose "Uninstall AVG" option
• choose "Remove user settings" when you are asked for
• finish the uninstallation process
• reboot PC
• execute the downloaded package again
• follow the installation wizard to install the professional version of the program
• enter your license number when you are asked (we recommend that you use copy&paste method to enter this license number into the installation form)
• update the AVG program
